Capitalizing on your talents in the University

In university, it is easy to be bombarded by school work and not have enough time to do the things you love. It is easy to forget what we once enjoyed in this sea of knowledge that seems endless. At the University of Pécs, it is not different either. During the semester students are very much busy and engrossed in their studies. Some of the students have however not let their school work deter them from practicing their hobbies and even monetize their gifts. I will highlight just a few of the university students who have managed to capitalize on their talents and use them as a side hustle as well.

Fahad Aliyu
Fahad is a final year architecture student who when not in class is an established calligraphy artist. He uses calligraphy to tell stories and paint pictures and amazing portraits. Being a man of many hats, he is also a freelance photographer who has a keen eye for capturing special moments. He has made sales of his art all over Hungary and beyond. One of the famous people to purchase his art is the outgoing President of Croatia, Her Excellency Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović. You can follow his Instagram at Falligraphy

Ons Ben Dhaou
Ons is an architecture Ph.D. student from Tunisia. Despite her busy schedule she still manages to create spectacular art in portrait form. She does custom art also depending on individual specifications and does not disappoint. I have personally bought her art and can attest that her customer service is top-notch and the packaging aesthetically pleasing. She has also sold a lot of her art in Hungary. If you are an art enthusiast I recommend you follow her Instagram at:color.ons
A sample of her work is as below:

Sam Bolu
Sam is a Nigerian nursing student who is also a designer and tailor. He makes awesome African print clothes. Moving abroad from Africa, getting African prints and dashikis at affordable prices can be a challenge and sometimes impossible. Sam made this possible and the good thing with him is that you can get a custom design depending on your specifications. He is also earning from this project. Sample works of his can be found at: collectionslargo and below is a sample of his designs

Manuella Nwubani
Manuella is a 3rd-year medical student. Despite her busy school schedule, she runs what I would term as the most successful food delivery Instagram pages in Pécs. She makes amazing home-cooked meals and snacks at affordable prices. It is a great alternative to the monotonous burgers and fries that comprise a typical takeout meal. Her page is: the_urbanfoods
Below is a picture of some of the meals she makes

This is just to name but a few students who are capitalizing on their talents and hobbies. One thing that stood out from all of them is that if you love something and enjoy it you will create time for it. University can be a busy place but it shouldn’t mark the end of your hobbies.
