Besides being the oldest university in the country, the University of Pécs has earned a prominent position in terms of international excellence as well. The entire institution, as well as many of our faculties and study programmes took leading positions in highly recognized international rankings.

World University Rankings
The 2023 list includes more than 2,000 ranked institutions, the PTE ranked in the 1001-1200 category. The criteria taken into account are: quality of teaching and research, academic citations, international and industrial relations.

QS World University Rankings
The list of the world's best higher education institutions again includes the University of Pécs, which is Hungary's first university, ranked 771–780th instead of the previous year's 801- to 85th. In addition, PTE is the best among Hungarian universities in the category "learning experience"!
Since 2004, the experts at Quacquarelli Symonds have compiled an annual ranking of the world's universities, comparing universities on nine criteria. The ranking was based on data from around 5,700 higher education institutions, of which 1,503 universities were ranked.

The University of Pécs has been ranked 314th on the list of the best higher education institutions in Europe by Quacquarelli Symonds.
This time, the experts ranked nearly 700 universities from 42 countries across Europe based on 12 criteria from five groups of experts. Among other things, they compared institutions on indicators such as the research ecosystem, career prospects after university and sustainability.
