Every recruitment season tells a different story. While destinations change, one thing always remains the same: the opportunity to meet ambitious future students and reconnect with the alumni who already carry the University of Pécs with them around the world.
During the autumn 2025 and spring 2026 recruitment seasons, our team traveled across Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America. In total, we visited more than 25 countries and over 60 cities, meeting prospective students, educational partners, and members of our growing alumni community. While every destination contributed to strengthening the University of Pécs' international presence, this article focuses on three particularly memorable stops—Rwanda, Jordan, and Kazakhstan—where we had the pleasure of reconnecting with our alumni through dedicated alumni gatherings.
In Rwanda, our Deputy director attended a Higher Education Conference focused on strengthening international cooperation and building new partnerships. While the conference was the primary purpose of the visit, it also created a valuable opportunity to reconnect with our alumni. Hearing their stories, learning about their careers, and seeing how they continue to represent the University of Pécs in their home country made the visit especially meaningful.
In Jordan, our team participated in Bridge’s 39th Educational Fair, meeting prospective students interested in pursuing their studies at the University of Pécs. Alongside the fair, we also held our largest alumni gathering so far, which made the visit especially memorable. The evening brought together 22 alumni with different stories and connections to Pécs, including Ahmed, whose journey we previously featured in one of our alumni stories. Among the guests was also a couple whose story began during their student years in Pécs and who are now preparing to start a new chapter together through marriage. Their story was a touching reminder that the University of Pécs can shape lives in many ways — through education and careers, but also through friendships, memories, and meaningful personal connections that last long after graduation.
Next stop took us to Kazakhstan, where we visited Astana and Almaty – two cities that continue to be among the University of Pécs' most important recruitment destinations. Alongside meeting prospective students and partners, we were delighted to reconnect with our alumni community during a dedicated gathering. Listening to their stories and hearing how their careers and lives have evolved since graduating reminded us of the lasting impact of a Pécs education. Some shared stories of professional success, others reflected on lifelong friendships, and a few even reminded us that the connections made in Pécs can shape an entire lifetime. Here we also met a couple whose relationship began during their student years at the University of Pécs and have since grown into family. Moments like these beautifully illustrate that studying abroad is not only about earning a degree—it is also about building a life, finding a community, and sometimes even finding the person you will share your future with.
Across all three destinations, the alumni gatherings became the heart of these journeys. They reminded us that international recruitment is not only about presenting study programs or answering questions at fairs. It is also about maintaining relationships, listening to our graduates, celebrating their achievements, and showing future students the real human stories behind the University of Pécs community.
Although Rwanda, Jordan, and Kazakhstan each had their own atmosphere, culture, and conversations, one message was clear everywhere: the connection between alumni and the University of Pécs does not end at graduation. It continues through memories, friendships, professional paths, and our alumni's willingness to stay connected and share their experiences with others.
As we look back on another successful season of fairs and alumni encounters, we are grateful to everyone who met us along the way — prospective students, partners, and especially our alumni. Their stories continue to remind us why these journeys matter.
As we look back on another successful season of recruitment tours and alumni gatherings, we are grateful to everyone who joined us along the way. Every reunion reminds us that our alumni community extends far beyond the University campus. We look forward to organizing many more alumni gatherings in the future, reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new generations of graduates, and continuing to strengthen the global University of Pécs family.
We are happy to share some snapshots of our gatherings.
