This decision follows a multi-year accreditation process driven by increasing international demand and the faculty's long-standing commitment to internationalisation. Since 2013, the Faculty has steadily increased the number of programs taught in English. This includes 12 programs-ranging from architecture to biomedical engineering-currently hosting over 640 international students. The new mechanical engineering curriculum will share foundational subjects with existing engineering majors, supported by a faculty staff specifically expanded to include young, English-proficient researchers and professors.

This program aims to enrol around 20-30 students in its initial year. Beyond academic growth, the initiative is closely tied to industry needs; local industrial partners are open to accept international interns to face the regional engineer shortage, as English is already the primary language of communication at most large firms. University leadership emphasises that this expansion will also benefit the teaching staff by allowing greater specialisation and fostering new global research partnerships. For students in need of extra support, the Faculty continues to offer intensive language and professional preparatory courses to ensure they are ready for the rigours of the degree.
