On February 19, Chinese language education in the South Transdanubia region reached a new milestone: the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine at the PTE Faculty of Health Sciences officially inaugurated its second partner institution base, the Confucius Classroom at the Köztársaság Téri Primary School. This prestigious title is not only a recognition of the successes of the past decade but also opens doors to the latest digital educational technologies.
As part of an international network, the "Confucius Classroom" status is awarded by the Chinese Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) exclusively to educational institutions that demonstrate outstanding and long-term results. The partnership between the Pécs primary school and the university institute began in 2015 with a group of barely ten students. Since then, the program’s popularity has remained unbroken: today, more than 50 students annually acquire the basics of the Chinese language and explore the worlds of Kung Fu and Chinese dance.

"Attaining the title of Confucius Classroom is both an acknowledgment of the school’s committed support to date and the beginning of a new level of professional cooperation," it was stated at the ceremonial plaque unveiling held on February 12, 2026. Participants looked back at the milestones of their shared journey, which led from the creation of an Oriental-themed specialized classroom in 2019 to this current international recognition.
By winning this title, the institution will also receive significant financial support. These funds will be used in the near future to renovate the language classroom and equip it with high-tech IT devices. This will allow students in Pécs to immerse themselves in the mysteries of Chinese culture and language in a modern, interactive environment.

The shared goal of the Pécs Confucius Institute and the Köztársaság Téri Primary School remains the building of cultural bridges, helping future generations navigate the global world with confidence.
