On February 12, Dr. Adrián Fábián, the incoming Rector of the University of Pécs, officially received his appointment during a formal ceremony held in the Sándor Palace.
The letter of appointment was presented in a formal ceremony, emphasising the significance of the event for Hungarian higher education. The Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation, which maintains the University of Pécs, submitted the proposal for the rector-candidate to the President of the Republic through the minister responsible for sectoral management, taking into account the ranking established by the PTE Senate. Dr. Adrián Fábián will assume the position on July 1, 2026, following the expiration of current Rector Dr. Attila Miseta's mandate.

During the introduction of the rector-candidates, the former Dean of the PTE Faculty of Law stated his vision that PTE must become the scientific, innovation, and economic centre of the region south of Lake Balaton. He identified internal cohesion and transparent resource distribution as the foundations for development.

In line with these goals, his programme urged for coordinated operations, the resolution of functional and financing issues, and the regularity of strategic consultations. He emphasised that the university community can only function as a true community if identical job roles receive identical recognition and if institutional decisions are made in a transparent and fair manner.
