The latest university rankings were published on 8 June by the London-based Quacquarelli Symonds company. The University of Pécs (UP) was again included in the list of the world's best institutions of higher education, ranked 651-700, maintaining its position from last year and the year before. In addition, Hungary's first university ranked among the top 200 universities in the world in the category of international students.
Since 2004, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has compiled an annual ranking of the world's universities, based on six criteria. The final ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, the citation rate of academic work associated with the institution, the teacher-student ratio and the number of international professors and students. Data from nearly 1,700 universities were compared, based on tens of millions of documents and 96 million citations. Of the 1673 institutions, the top 1,300 were ranked.
Attila Miseta, Rector of UP, said about the latest international ranking, "In this international comparison, we have managed to stabilize our position in the strong middle field in recent years. The number of our citations has increased at a good pace, and
the ratio of international students has put us among the top 200 universities in the world, which we are especially proud of.
We want to reinforce this popularity by continuously developing our university infrastructure and by providing ever higher quality education," emphasized the Rector .
One of the most widely accepted international rankings describes UP as a historic institution, with a high research output and broad training spectrum.
