Today, the London-based company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published its latest university rankings. Once again, the University of Pécs has earned a place on the list comparing the world’s top higher education institutions. Following its position in the 801–850 range two years ago and 771–780 last year, Hungary’s first university has now achieved an even more prestigious spot, ranking between 741 and 750 this year. Moreover, Pécs's university ranked highest among Hungarian universities in two key categories: learning experience and international students.

Quacquarelli Symonds experts have been compiling the global university rankings annually since 2004, comparing universities based on nine criteria. This year, data from nearly 8,500 higher education institutions were reviewed, and 1,501 universities were deemed worthy of inclusion in the final ranking.

Commenting on the latest international ranking, Attila Miseta, Rector of the University of Pécs, stated:

“It’s definitely a positive development that our university improved its score in all nine evaluation criteria compared to last year. I'm also pleased that our university ranked highest among Hungarian institutions in two categories, both of which are key indicators of strategic importance to us.”

In fact, the University of Pécs made significant progress in several areas compared to last year’s results: in both reputation-related indicators, in the internationalization metric, and in the area of sustainability.
