Call for Applications for the Gap Year Scholarship in the 2024/2025 Academic Year is Now Open!

Dear Student of the University of Pécs,

The EDUC Alliance is pleased to announce its physical mobility program for BA/BSc and MA/MSc students of the University of Pécs. Are you ready to study at an EDUC university for five or nine months, delving into new educational and cultural experiences? Do you meet the B2- C1 language requirement and have a passion for courses beyond your core curriculum? If your answer is yes, the Gap Year program awaits your application!

Opportunities offered by the scholarship:

• Students who win the scholarship will participate in academic studies at an EDUC university.
• Students will study in the same status as at their home university. Their scholarship is tuition-free.

Online Information Session: Thursday, 10th October, 15:00 (via Teams)

Aim of the scholarship:

• Explore different fields of science than your degree.
• Gain new experiences in education, languages, and culture.
• Develop personal skills through language immersion.
• Experience intercultural openness on a foreign university campus.

Students who take part EDUC Gap Year program:

• spend 5 months abroad
• get Gap Year Scholarship
• enrol at their home university as active students, pay for their current tuition fee at their home university, and get their scholarship for the duration of their stay abroad
• have to gain a minimum of 30 ECTS at the target university
• cannot take part: Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship or Scholarship for Christian Young People, Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship  during the duration of the Gap Year Scholarship

Who can apply? (Terms and Conditions):

• BA/BSc or MA/MSc students of the University of Pécs, who have active status at the University of Pécs in the semester of the Gap Year and they do not get their diploma before the end of the Gap Year mobility period.

1. Online application form:
   • please fill it in in the English language
   • Please include your Motivation Letter, up to one-page letter, in which the applicant explains the reason for their application, the contribution of the Gap Year to the development of their career, social, European, and other skills, and their future socio-professional integration

2. Copy of certificates of language proficiency (e-mail)
3. Documents demonstrating public and/or scientific activity (optional)

Please send all documents to nemeth.judit@pte.hu at the same time as the application but no later than the deadline for applying, 16th October, 2024 14 pm.

The application will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

• validation of the provided documents
• content and quality of the cover letter
• elements that need to be included in the cover letter
  • new skills development
  • linguistic and cultural skills development
  • European openness
  • assets for social and professional integration
  • coherence of selected courses with the mobility project of the student

Amount of the scholarship:

• 600 €/month for France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Norway
• travel cost: once 400€
• 480 eur/month for the Czech Republic
• travel cost: once 300€

The University of Pécs issues a student scholarship contract with the applicant. Please note that the scholarship amount does not necessarily cover all expenses during the stay, so it may need to be supplemented by other sources.

• We do not accept incomplete, non-compliant, or post-deadline applications.

Please note that most of the courses offered by the target university are in the given language above; only some of them are in English. Credit acceptance for the scholarship is impossible at the University of Pécs.

Evaluation:

A professional committee will evaluate the submitted application by end of October 2024. The winning applicants will be contacted by e-mail.
