Many exceptionally talented students study at the University of Pécs’s primary and secondary schools, who are worthy of recognition and their achievements should not be overlooked. One of them is Milán Horváth, 10th grade student of the UP’s Babits Mihály Secondary School, he got first place in the finals of the 16thJohn von Neumann International Talent Competition.
The student won the price for User Programmes in the secondary school category with the mathematics mobile phone app named Matinno that he developed and showcased at the Open University as well. The practice app contains the complete Hungarian primary school mathematics curriculum; it is easy to use, can be operated alone and it is student friendly.
Milán made Matinno free this spring when the transition to online education began, thus making the job of many students, teachers and parents much easier in the past period. With its more than ten thousand downloads it is Hungary’s most popular mathematics practice app.
“Matinno is precisely adjusted to the curriculum and it promotes individual learning, which means that students can use it without the help of their parents or teachers. Thanks to instant assessment, users can immediately see what mistakes they made and what they did right. I received a lot of letters and positive feedback from teachers and students alike, moreover, the app is now among the Educational Authority’s recommended online study-aid contents” – expressed his delight Milán Horváth, the first secondary school presenter of the Open University.
