The University of Pécs’ renewed communication strategy has earned major professional recognition: on 12 November it achieved a double victory in the Pro category of the RGB Creative Design Award and received the competition’s highest accolade, the overall Black Pixel Award. The professional jury recognised the project “PTE Visual Identity 2025” as an outstanding achievement in both visual execution and strategic design.
The University of Pécs presented its new visual identity on 1 September, a concept that blends the institution’s traditions with a forward-looking approach. The success of this renewal has now been reaffirmed by the RGB Design Award. The competition aims to highlight the best design solutions in marketing and communication and to underline the importance of visual quality.
The university received two nominations from the RGB jury in the main category of Identity & Branding and was awarded the highest recognition in both: the RED rating (gold in this competition, where silver is GREEN and bronze is BLUE).

This year, the jury awarded a single Black Pixel Grand Prize, which also went to the University of Pécs for “PTE Visual Identity 2025”. This distinction recognises the most outstanding design solution across the entire competition. It is awarded to one of the RED-rated works – the entry that excels most in visual quality, creativity and usability.

“These professional awards are a gratifying acknowledgement of the work completed so far and welcome feedback for the entire team. At the same time, we are grateful to the university community, where the new identity has been warmly received and is already appearing widely beyond centrally managed platforms. The greatest recognition is, in fact, when people use it, engage with it and perhaps even grow fond of it,” said Zoltán Győrffy, Director of Public Relations Centre at the University of Pécs and leader of the team coordinating the identity renewal.
“The two category awards and the overall prize from RGB are a wonderful result. We are pleased that the profession has recognised our work, but the true feedback is seeing the new identity increasingly come to life. It is important that this is a shared achievement of the Graphic Design specialisation and the university, accomplished entirely in-house without external contributors. It required a great deal of trust, a supportive environment and consistent work, for which I thank everyone involved – especially our students and colleagues,” said Gergely Böhm, lecturer at the Department of Graphic Design of the PTE Faculty of Music and Visual Arts.
