The Symposium The Power of Colours – Changing Scale is the initiative of Ilona Keserü, painter, professor emerita, one of the founding members of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts. It was first organized in the academic year 2006/07 as a course of the UP Faculty of Music and Visual Arts Doctoral School in the disused interior industrial spaces of the Zsolnay Factory (An archive video of the first The Power of Colours Force is available at this link »). The exhibition, which was held in an unusual location, made it possible to exhibit oversize paintings as well.

Over time, the event developed into a major symposium. After a hiatus of several years, 16-29 May, 2022, on the occasion of the jubilee of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts, the Department of Painting organized the event again, for the tenth time. At the program, colourful works on a larger scale, flat or spatial, using painting technologies, were designed and implemented in the empty halls of the Zsolnay Cultural Quarter (southern building complex of Pirogránit courtyard). Twenty-four Hungarian and foreign artists were invited to participate in the symposium, several of them are current lecturers and doctoral students of the Faculty of Music and Visual Arts.

The exhibition can be viewed between 2 March and 2 April in Pécs, in the m21 Gallery (52 Felsővámház str.,Pécs, Zsolnay Cultural Quarter).

The opening ceremony will be held on 2 March at 5 pm.
