Below you can find a summary of the ordinances and actions decided upon by Attila Péterffy, mayor of Pécs between May 4th and May 6th, regarding the public spaces, parks, markets, market hall and zoo:

Market hall and markets

Ordinances entering force on May 5th:

The time slot reserved for store purchases reserved for the elderly above the age of 65 starts at 9AM and lasts until 11AM.

Sellers are required to wear face masks and rubber gloves.

Customers are required to wear face masks or cover their mouths and noses with a scarf or other pieces of cloth.

Customers queueing must respect a distance of 1.5 meters from each other.

Further guidelines regarding the market hall:

On Wednesday, May 6th, commercial activities start at the market hall’s outside stands at 5AM; the stands close at 3PM.
On May 11th, the entire area of the market hall is opened up for customers.

Starting May 11th, the market hall operates as usual with the regular schedule of 5AM-5PM.

The number of people inside the building at any time may not exceed 100.

Entry to the market hall is permitted through the doorway on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky street, an exit is provided in the direction of the bus terminal.

In front of the entrance and on the inside a distance of 1.5 meters is compulsory.

Public spaces, public parks, playgrounds

At playgrounds and parks it is recommended for parents to wear face masks and keep a safety distance of 1.5 meters.

It is recommended for families to use portable hand sanitizers.

Pécsi Zoo

The Pécs Zoo will reopen on Saturday, May 9th.

The number of people at the zoo may not exceed 400.

Visitors are asked to wear face masks, people entering are required to use hand sanitizers provided on the spot.

Certain areas of the zoo remain closed, while others will have a mandatory direction indicated. Details are available at the location or on the webpage (https://pecszoo.hu/).

Pécs Zoo provides a discount of 10% for single tickets and 5% for family tickets until further notice.

Open-air market

On May 10th, the open-air market reopens.

Sellers are only permitted to offer their wares if they wear face masks, customers can only enter if they also wear face masks or otherwise cover their mouths and noses. Compliance is monitored by security staff on the spot.

The open-air market is private property, a parking fee is therefore still charged, with the usual rates.

Social distancing rules are continously announced through the loudspeakers.

In addition to the regular staff of PVh Zrt., 40-45 additional temporary employees will be present monitoring and coordinating the location of sellers and ensuring the social distancing rules for customers.

The open-air market is exempt from the regulation regarding the commercial activities of the elderly above the age of 65.

We have closed down the open-air market at the start of the new coronavirus emergency situation in order to slow down the spread of the virus. Therefore, the municipality of Pécs and PVh Zrt. retain the right to limit entry and impose limitations on the number of people present at the open-air market in case a crowd starts forming.
