On October 11, 2024, the EXPO Center in Pécs hosted the vibrant cultural festival, "Irány a PTE! Kultúrfeszt," welcoming high school students and prospective university attendees from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This engaging event served as a platform for students to experience what it feels like to be a university student while gathering essential information for successful admission into higher education.
 
 
The festival featured a myriad of activities, making it an enticing opportunity for those uncertain about their future academic paths. With participation from all ten faculties of the University of Pécs (UP), the event showcased a variety of programmes and presentations, designed to spark interest and provide firsthand insights into university life.
 
 
Upon entering the bustling venue, attendees were greeted by a lively atmosphere filled with high school students eager to explore their options.
While the festival was primarily aimed at helping students choose their majors, but it also attracted those considering further studies, such as master’s programmes.
Various booths offered interactive experiences, ranging from games to informational sessions. 
 
 
One booth invited participants to play a ball game while answering questions about the UP, rewarding them with branded water bottles. Others featured fun activities like puzzle challenges, where timely completion earned students university-themed accessories such as pens, bags, and lip balm.
The festival atmosphere buzzed with excitement
, as students enjoyed mini basketball courts, ping pong tables, and gym equipment, reminiscent of the lively university life awaiting them. 
 
 
The event also included cultural activities, with a Confucius Institute booth teaching high school students Chinese calligraphy and the popular game of Mahjong. A significant highlight was the live performances on the main stage, where student dance clubs showcased their talent, adding to the festival's festive spirit. 
 
 
For those interested in academic presentations, a schedule featuring various faculties ensured that attendees could gain insights into different programmes. Presentations spanned topics from sciences to humanities, allowing students to discover the broad array of opportunities available at the UP. 
 
 
To facilitate participation, a school certificate was issued for attendees, further incentivising students to engage with the festival. High schoolers who pre-registered were also able to collect their certificates on-site, enhancing the event’s organisation and flow. 
 
 
The "Irány a PTE! Kultúrfeszt" provided an invaluable opportunity for students to connect with faculty, explore potential career paths, and immerse themselves in the university experience—all in a welcoming and festive atmosphere. This event undoubtedly played a crucial role in guiding high school students through their academic choices, paving the way for future generations of university scholars in Pécs.
