The Best Elementary Teacher Training Institution in Hungary

According to the Higher Education Ranking 2021 recently published by Figyelő, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development, University of Pécs was listed as the best elementary teacher training institution in the country. This success is due to the fact that the faculty was able to achieve outstanding results in 2020 on the basis of the aggregated indicators of the teaching, kindergarten teacher and special education majors.

The ranking was based on data such as the number applications marking the institution as their first choice and the number of students admitted, the average score of students admitted, the proportion of foreign students, and the qualitative indicators of academic staff as well as student excellence. On this basis, the Faculty was able to produce the best results in teacher training, while in kindergarten pedagogy it was able to produce the second best result, and the special education major was ranked third best, which overall represents the best performance among the institutions offering Hungarian elementary level teacher training. As Prof. Dr. Gábor Szécsi, Dean of the Faculty, said: "This result is also important because both the traditional and the new elements of the Faculty's training offer have contributed to the outstanding result."
