What does it mean to become and be an engineer as a woman? What does it mean to study and become an engineer at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Pécs? To answer these relevant questions, the University of Pécs, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology announced a photo, poster and video competition for Engineers, Women Engineers and future Engineers, the results of which were announced on 10 November. The competition titled “Being a Woman Engineer, Becoming a Woman Engineer” aimed to showcase through the submissions what the Engineering profession is like from a woman’s point of view, and wanted to show, how the process of learning and becoming an engineer is appealing, interesting and provides self-fulfillment for women in the 21st century.

The competition was announced in spring, but the deadline was pushed to 1 October due to the coronavirus pandemic; the faculty’s academic staff and current students and alumni were eligible to submit their entries to the competition. Men and women could make submissions regardless of age or nationality. To the delight of the organizers, many foreign students were interested in the competition and so were men. The topic could be presented in three different genres: photo, poster, or video. There were 47 submissions for the competition: 19 photos, 22 posters and 6 videos.
