Cultural Sensitivity Program 2018-2019

Our Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development organizes five Engilsh-taught courses open for every student of the University in order to help the understanding of Hungarian culture, society and to get a glimpse of the current social and political issues here. You are able to attend these courses for free.

From the Home of Giant Pandas* to Pécs

Another group of Chinese students arrived at the University of Pécs, this time from the capital of Sichuan prefecture, Chengdu in order to study the European and Hungarian cultural heritage. Thirty-one students and two professors of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) are staying in Pécs from 30 July - 4 August, where they have lessons and participate in study trips.

Chinese Students are Learning about our Cultural Heritage

18 students and 2 professors came to Pécs from the Shanghai Institute of Technology, China in order to learn about the rich European and Hungarian cultural heritage. The academic programme (lessons and field trips) of the summer university held from 15 – 29 July are organized by the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development, while the complete organization of the event is the task of the Centre for International Relations.

The 19th Hungarian Language and Culture Summer University Welcomes Nearly a Hundred Participants

The International Studies Center (ISC) of the University of Pécs, Medical School launched the 19th Hungarian Language and Culture Summer University with 98 participants from abroad on 22 July. Dr. Kata Pelcz, head of the Hungarian Programme was the first to warmly welcome the audience at the official opening ceremony on 23 July. Dr. Reza Hemmati, head of ISC addressed the participants: “I am happy that I can see lots of faces from last year’s summer university programme, and new faces too, so I am glad!”

Zsolnay Light Festival 2018

 

Zsolnay Light Art Mapping Competition

 

The third edition of Zsolnay Light Art Mapping Competition brought many innovations for the festival. The most important thing is that, first time, in the history of the festival, the mapping shows was displayed three evenings this year, the surface for mapping has been expanded, so that the creative artists could compose their Metamorphosis-themed facade-specific videos on the entire visible surface of the Cathedral.

Ceremonial Senate Meeting to Close the Academic Year 2017/2018 and Inauguration of the New Rector

 

The Academic Year 2017/2018 was officially closed at the Ceremonial Senate Meeting at the Dr. József Halasy-Nagy Aula. Several awards have been conferred, as well as honorary professor, assistant professor and professor titles, habilitated doctoral titles and doctoral titles. With the hopes of establishing a new tradition, the incoming rector took his ceremonial oath in the presence of former rectors of UP and predecessor institutions.

Visit of the University of Mostar delegation at the University of Pecs

A delegation led by the deans of Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts of the University of Mostar has paid an official visit at the Rector’s Office on 7 June 2018. Dr. Milenko Bevanda, Dr. Vlado Majstorovic and Stjepan Skoko deans were hosted by Vice Rector Dr. Gyula Zeller, director Dr. Istvan Tarrosy (Centre for International Relations) as well as Mr. Csaba Ruzsa head of the Strategic Office. This was a return visit of a similar delegation of the University of Pécs, which paid a visit earlier in May in Mostar.
