Indonesia was our first guest during the Asia Days of the International Spring at the University of Pécs, the 19th of March. Apart from the truly amazing dance perfomances the visitors could learn many funfacts and interesting things about Indonesia, the country of more the 13.000 islands.
Last week the University of Pécs successfully participated in APAIE, the largest higher education conference and exhibition of the Asia-Pacific.
At the end of March a delegation headed by Prof. Dr. József Bódis, Rector of the University of Pécs, was paying a visit of strategic importance at the Metropolitan State University (MSU) of Denver, Colorado.
On Monday, the 19th of March, in the framework of the University of Pécs’ very own International Spring Indonesia was our guest. Apart from truly amazing dance performances, the visitors could have learned many funfacts and interesting things about Indonesia, the country of more then 13.000 islands. We were honorod to have Wening Esthyprobo, the Ambassador of Indonesia and Ms. Titania Arimbi, head of information and cultural affairs of the Indonesian Embassy amongst ourselves.
The town of Pécs was awarded the UNESCO "Global Learning City Award" for the year of 2017, on which the international organization issued a notice on Thursday evening. Pécs, Hungary won this prestigious title for the first time.
By this time the University of Pécs has more than 4000 international students, which is an important milestone in the history of the university.
A good indicator of progress is the fact that in 2010 the number of incoming students barely number exceeded 1500. The 4000th international student, Ide Kanako, a first year student of the Medical School from Japan was greeted by József Bódis, rector of the University of Pécs with a diploma at the Stipendium Hungaricum Gala.
The Quacquarelli Symonds Company of London has published its latest university rating, according to which the University of Pécs can demand an excellent position for itself among the top universities. This year the UP was ranked on the 751-800th position as the 5th best Hungarian university.
