The International Centre's Study Abroad and Summer University Office organized an orientation programme for 41 Indonesian students, who received the opportunity to spend the autumn semester of the 2021/22 academic year at the University of Pécs thanks to the scholarship of excellence organised by the Indonesian government for the first time this year (Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards - IISMA), on 20 September in the impressive dr. Halasy-Nagy József Aula.

The University of Pécs is proud to have received the opportunity to participate in the Indonesian government's scholarship of excellence programme, for which 240 universities from all over the world applied. There was huge competition for entry into the programme on the international higher education market, as only 60 universities were selected as host institutions. The participation of UP in this programme contributes to deepening cooperation with Indonesian universities and greatly increases the international recognition of the university. "The International Centre applied with a study abroad programme that has been running successfully for years.

Among the host universities, one of the largest group of students has come to UP globally, a total of 41 people, which is a great pleasure!"

- emphasized Dr. Gyöngyi Pozsgai, head of the Study Abroad and Summer University Office.

The aim of the scholarship programme is to provide 1,000 Indonesian students in the first year and 10,000 Indonesian students per year from the following year to acquire professional and multicultural knowledge at the world's most prestigious universities that can be used excellently in their studies and later on in their work. The students who have arrived take part in the courses offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Business and Economics during the autumn semester.

Dr. Krisztián Szűcs, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, was the first to welcome the students at the orientation programme: "We hope that you will enjoy your time in Pécs, your courses, and we hope that you will acquire useful knowledge here that you can bring back home!

The first feedback from your teachers is very positive, they are impressed by your skills, knowledge and experiences!"

- shared the Vice Dean.

The enthusiastic Indonesian students were able to learn about their host faculties, their administrative tasks, they received useful information, got acquainted with the rich cultural life and opportunities offered by Pécs and the region, as well as the scholarship "bucket list". They have also had the opportunity to meet their Hungarian and Indonesian mentors, teachers and the helpful staff of the International Centre.
