PTE Quacquarelli Symonds Times Higher Education

In recent days, two major international university rankings were published, one by Quacquarelli Symonds and another by Times Higher Education. In both rankings, the University of Pécs performed very well, further strengthening its position within the international higher education landscape.

PTE Tops Several Categories Among Hungarian Universities

On Wednesday morning, the London-based Quacquarelli Symonds organisation released its latest European regional university ranking. In the list comparing the best higher education institutions on the continent, the University of Pécs was ranked 292nd, improving from 325th two years ago and 314th last year.

In addition, in the categories of learning experience and international student diversity, the University of Pécs once again ranked as the best Hungarian university. All indicators showed improvement, with particularly significant progress in sustainability and in the proportion of students participating in international exchange programs.

PTE’s Performance in the Times Higher Education Rankings

The latest Times Higher Education rankings were also published recently. According to the subject-specific rankings, the University of Pécs appeared in eight of the eleven scientific fields assessed. In the Medical and Health Sciences category, the university achieved notable progress, ranking in the 401–500 range and becoming the best regional university in this field.

University Leadership Reaction

Commenting on the results, Tamás Fedeles, Vice-Rector for Education at the University of Pécs, said: "These international rankings placing the university at increasingly higher levels provide very positive feedback and confirm that the institution is moving in the right direction. At the same time, he emphasised that there is no reason for complacency, as there are still areas where further improvement is possible, and the university will continue working to achieve even better results."
