International Evening 2026: The Grand Masquerade Ball

International Evening is far more than just a regular event. For international students, it is an opportunity to connect with peers, showcase talents, share cultures, and celebrate diversity in a vibrant and joyful atmosphere. This year, the International Evening 2026 took place on 28 March at Lauber Dezső Sportcsarnok Sports Hall.

At the University of Pécs, each country contributes to the diversity of the student community. On this special evening, students from different countries united together to form one unity. This year’s event took place in a stunning and elegant setting, with the theme of a masquerade ball. Guests arrived dressed in elegant gowns and refined formal attire, with beautifully crafted masks that added a glimpse of mystery and sophistication. The atmosphere took us back to the elegance of the English Renaissance era—much like scenes from the Bridgerton series if you have watched it.

One of the highlights of the evening was the cultural food exhibition. Each country prepared and presented traditional dishes with distinct flavour and style. From Korean spicy chicken to a wide selection of Arabic dishes, guests had the chance to explore flavors from around the world. For many students who are studying far from home, tasting food from their own home country brought a sense of comfort and connection. This event definitely created a warm and welcoming environment that helped each and every student feel like home.

Another memorable part of the evening was the traditional catwalk. Representatives from each country proudly showcased their traditional attire, allowing the audience to experience the diversity of global cultures. The stage was filled with energy, excitement, and pride, as cheers from the audience echoed for each country.

The evening also featured a variety of performances by talented students. From singing and dancing to rapping and instrumental performances, the stage was filled with talented students with impressive creativity and dedication. Each performance reflected the unique cultural background of the performers. Despite their hectic academic schedules, students demonstrated remarkable skill and time management, delivering performances of exceptional quality. Throughout the evening, the atmosphere was lively and dynamic. Colorful lights, engaging conversations, delicious food, and amazing performances all contributed to an unforgettable experience. A fireworks display was another highlight of the night. Despite the cold rainy weather, students gathered outside to witness the fireworks.

Following the performances and fireworks, the celebration continued with a lively after-party. The dance floor came alive as students enjoyed music selected by an energetic DJ. It was a perfect opportunity for students to take a short break from classes and relax, dance, and create lasting memories with friends in Pécs. In conclusion, International Evening 2026 was made possible by the incredible efforts of the students who dedicated their time and energy to organizing and participating in the event. Special appreciation also goes to everyone involved behind the scenes from security staff and receptionists to drivers, waiters, waitresses, and all those who contributed to making the evening a success.
