The University of Pécs has always aimed to provide a state of the art education for the students, which is especially important at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology. The Faculty, alongside many topics, teaches an ethical hacking course to highlight the necessity of cybersecurity in this online era.

In the 1950s, high-end programmers were called hackers, and later, under the influence of Hollywood movies, cybercriminals possessed the term, but nowadays we once again mean ethical hackers by it. Ethical hackers are an elite of IT professionals, and their activities make a significant contribution to the cybersecurity of states and companies.

As cybersecurity plays an increasing role in industry and the functioning of companies, special attention is paid to this interdisciplinary science at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (PTE MIK) of the University of Pécs. The restrictions caused by the epidemic have also highlighted the importance of protecting computer data, so the number of engineers with IT security expertise is constantly growing, and they are already among the most sought-after workers. This is why there is considerable interest among engineering students at the University of Pécs for courses on cybersecurity.
