The Chinese Ambassador Paying a Visit in the Rector’s Office

H.E. Ambassador Duan Jielong representing the People’s Republic of China in Hungary paid his first official visit in the Rector’s Office of the University of Pécs. He met with Prof. Dr. József Bódis, Rector, Mr. Zoltán Jenei, Chancellor, Prof. Dr. József Betlehem, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, which hosts the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) focussed Confucius Institute also represented by Prof. Mao Hong, Chinese director of the institute.

Ambassador Duan has visited Pécs and the university many times (this time he was invited by the Pécs–Baranya Chamber of Commerce and Industry), but this was the first occasion when he was received by the Rector in his office. After an introduction to the University of Pécs by Professor Bódis, as well as its internationalization strategy and bilateral Chinese collaborations by Dr. István Tarrósy, Director of the Centre for International Relations, a special gift was offered to the ambassador: a plaquette with the coat of arms of the university thanking for His Excellency’s support of Chinese–Hungarian University Cooperation.

The University of Pécs so far has signed 11 mutually meaningful bilateral agreements with different Chinese universities, also paying attention to geographical diversity within China.
