“Hopefully, many of us will become familiar with this city and with each other as this project develops,” greeted the representatives dr. Attila Miseta, Rector of the University of Pécs. “EDUC — and with it you, dear colleagues — provides answers to numerous challenges in contemporary higher education: from the need for a common European platform for education, research and science, to the development of a digital strategy, to name just two of the most pressing ones.”
Following dr. Miseta’s words, dr. Britta von Kempen, Head of the EDUC Alliance at the University of Potsdam, took the floor.
“It is my sincere hope that Pécs will not only remain an important city for European culture but also become an important place for EDUC as well,” began dr. von Kempen, referencing Pécs’s history as European Capital of Culture in 2010. “With more than a hundred people present, this is a good sign of what EDUC strives to be: a spearhead of European integration in educational and scientific cooperation.”
Both speakers wished the participants fruitful discussions and successful outcomes in the days ahead. With the opening speeches concluded, the attendees divided into smaller groups and proceeded to the rooms where they will be working over the coming days.
