
The University of Pécs has performed successfully in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2026 international higher education rankings. The 2026 evaluation assessed the performance of 1,646 universities from 116 countries against the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the overall ranking, UP is listed among the institutions ranked 401–600, placing it in the Top 3 among Hungarian universities.
In a domestic comparison, the university shares first place in the target areas of SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being and SDG 5 – Gender Equality, whilst achieving second place in the area of SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities.
Among the sub-indicators related to SDG 10, the indicator examining the proportion of students from developing countries stands out, with the university scoring 94.9 points out of a maximum of 100. This result clearly demonstrates the university's international openness, as well as UP's active role in strengthening global access and equal opportunities.
The sustainability endeavours of the University of Pécs are evident across education, research, international relations, institutional operations, and social responsibility. For years, the University of Pécs has been consciously working to ensure that a sustainable approach plays a defining role not merely in individual projects, but throughout the university's entire operations. The result achieved in the THE Impact Rankings 2026 is confirmation that UP's sustainability efforts are recognised on an international level. It simultaneously reinforces the university's commitment to continuing its contribution to the realisation of the sustainable development goals through its educational, research, and community activities.
