The newly elected Board of Trustees and Supervisory Committee of the Universitas Quinqueecclesiensis Foundation, the maintaining body of the University of Pécs, held their joint inaugural meeting on 8 September 2026. The mandate of the new Board of Trustees and Supervisory Committee covers the transition year, running until 1 August 2027.

The Board of Trustees and the Supervisory Committee reviewed the most important tasks facing them in the coming period and began their implementation. In their work, keeping the interests of the University of Pécs in mind, both bodies give priority to preserving high-level educational and research performance, improving the institution’s competitiveness, supporting university autonomy, and ensuring responsible asset management in the public interest.

A key task in the period ahead is a detailed assessment of the Foundation’s financial and contractual position, a review of its operations, and the thorough preparation of decisions related to the future dissolution of the Foundation and the settlement of its assets. Throughout this process, it is of key importance that decisions regarding the future of the assets and other resources serving the operation of the University are based on careful consideration of long-term factors.

In this process, the Board of Trustees sees its responsibility in carefully evaluating the available information, consistently representing the interests of the University, and contributing through its decisions and proposals to solutions that support the stable and successful operation of the University of Pécs.

Mindful of this responsibility, the Board of Trustees and the Supervisory Committee have commenced their work in cooperation with the University, the exercise of the founder's rights, and the stakeholders contributing to shaping the future of the institution’s governance.
