On April 15–16, the Simonyi International Hackathon was once again organized by the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Pécs, coordinated by the Simonyi BEDC Entrepreneurship Development Center. The central theme of this year’s event was “Get moving!”, focusing on physical activity, a health-conscious lifestyle, and their business, technological, and social dimensions.

The hackathon began with an inspiring roundtable discussion, which provided the perfect introduction for participants before starting their creative work. The guests of the discussion were Dr. Márk Hoffbauer, Managing President of PEAC, and Dalma Iványi, former national team basketball player and coach at NKA Universitas Pécs. The roundtable was moderated by Dr. Diána Fűrész, assistant professor at the faculty, who contributed not only as an academic but also as a former national team basketball player, bringing a personal perspective to the discussion.

Following the discussion, student teams worked on their ideas for one and a half days. The theme “Get moving!” inspired a wide range of creative approaches. The participants were supported by professional mentors and corporate partners, who provided valuable feedback and practical insights.

Year after year, the Simonyi International Hackathon is not only an idea competition but also a meeting point: students from different faculties come together to think, create, and seek solutions to current social and economic challenges.
