Celebrating Diversity

The University of Pécs once again demonstrated its commitment to diversity and inclusion at International Evening 2025. Held on February 22 at the EXPO Center, the event was a celebration of cultures, traditions, and unity, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome from dr. Attila Miseta, the Rector of the University of Pécs, and Liliana Rode, the President of the English German Student Council (EGSC). Their speeches underscored the significance of cultural exchange and highlighted the university's role as a melting pot of ideas and traditions. They emphasized how events like International Evening not only foster global understanding but also create lifelong memories for students far from home.

One of the highlights of the night was the cultural catwalk, where students proudly represented their countries by wearing traditional attire. From the intricate patterns of African garments to the elegant designs of Asian robes, the runway was a vibrant display of global heritage and craftsmanship.

Following the catwalk, the stage came alive with a series of performances: students showcased their talents through traditional dances, musical performances, and theatrical acts, each reflecting the unique cultural identity of their homeland. The audience enjoyed a lively mix of colors, rhythms, and emotions, from the upbeat energy of Latin American salsa to the graceful moves of Indian classical dance.

And who could imagine an International Evening without a culinary journey, offering dishes from around the world for everyone to enjoy? The food stalls featured a mouthwatering array of dishes from around the world, allowing attendees to savor flavors from every corner of the globe.

As the formal part of the evening concluded, the celebration continued with an after-party, where students danced the night away to a mix of global and contemporary music. It was the perfect way to end a night dedicated to unity, friendship, and the spirit of internationalism.
