Goal: to assess the spoken English language knowledge of the candidate by initiating a general conversation directed by the examiner and to assess the professional knowledge and motivation of the applicant.
Oral evaluation is based on five factors:
- Oral accuracy (pronunciation)
- Professional vocabulary
- Style (pragmatic and sociolinguistic aspects)
- Communicative effectiveness (adequate task completion)
- Professional knowledge and motivation
Faculty of Law
Place: online: MS Teams

Duration: 10-15 minutes

Goal: The committee does not follow a rigid set of questions; instead, the conversation is tailored to the applicant’s individual profile.
Key areas of focus include:
- To assess the applicant's English knowledge.
- Academic Background: Presentation of previous studies, experiences, and achievements.
- Motivation and Vision: Why you chose our institution and what your long-term goals are in this field.
- Research Interest: An exploration of your chosen topic, the rationale behind your selection, and a brief overview of your proposed research methodology.
Medical school and Faculty of Pharmacy
Place: online: Zoom or MS Teams, offline: in Pécs, Budapest or abroad at an entrance exam organized by the Medical School and/or its authorized representative agencies.
Time: pre-scheduled by the Faculty English Admissions and Student Service Office’s staff with the applicant, between the beginning of March and the middle of July each year
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Results: the decision is sent out via DreamApply (apply.pte.hu) within a week after the admission interview
Goal: The entrance exam interview aims to assess applicants in the field of medicine by inquiring about their medical knowledge, exploring their motivation, discussing future plans, and addressing questions in Biology and Chemistry.
Please note that for Medicine and Dentistry, you must also take an online written exam. It includes multiple choice questions in Biology (20 questions), Chemistry (20 questions), General English (40 questions) and Medical English (20 questions). The duration of the exam is 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The exam fee for each program at the two faculties is 250 USD.
Please note that in case of an unsuccessful entrance exam, you can only repeat it twice.

Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development
Place: online: Jitsi Meet

Duration: 15 minutes

Goal: The interview seeks to evaluate applicants for the Pre-school Teaching program and the Environmental Education and Sustainability MSc program by exploring aspects such as their personal background, prior studies, reasons for choosing Hungary/Pécs, future plans, and specific interests within their chosen study program. Additionally, the interview is interested in applicants' involvement in sports, musical instruments, or singing, particularly in relation to the nature of the pre-school teaching program.
Faculty of Business and Economics
Place: online: MS Teams
Time: pre-scheduled by the Faculty International Admission Office’s staff with the applicant
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Results: the decision is sent out via DreamApply (apply.pte.hu) a few days after the admission interview
Goal: The interview's primary goal is to assess applicants by delving into their background, future plans, and motivation for choosing our program. Additionally, candidates of the bachelor program will receive a business-related article 10 minutes before the interview, and they will be asked to summarize it during the interview, with potential follow-up questions from the committee. For master's degree applicants, the committee will ask you about your background, plans, and motivation to choose us. You will need to talk about your previous studies and field of interest. You have to talk about your business idea, if any. The interviews may include further inquiries without a predefined set of questions.
Please note that for the Business Administration and Management BSc program, you will also need to take a written mathematical test.

Goal: The online interview aims to give the Admission Committee an opportunity to assess your aspirations and motivation for selecting your field of study. It also evaluates the adequacy of your English skills for the chosen major. The interview, lasting approximately 8-10 minutes, will involve discussing various aspects such as your background, motivations, and plans.

Duration: 15 minutes

Goal: The interview aims to facilitate spontaneous conversations initiated by the Examiner on two selected topics, prompting the candidate to respond to challenging questions. The assessment will focus on evaluating the candidate's speech production in terms of spontaneity, communication effectiveness, and proficiency in grammar and lexical knowledge.

Goal: The online interview aims to provide the Admission Committee with an opportunity to assess your aspirations and motivation for selecting your field of study. Additionally, it serves to evaluate the adequacy of your English skills for the chosen major. Expect a discussion about your previous studies, your relationship with art/musc respectively, your motivation to study in Hungary, your favorite artists/musicians and similar topics. Make sure to prepare your artist portfolio (the same one you've already uploaded during the application process) so that you can share it on the screen, as you may be requested to talk about your work.
Faculty of Sciences
Place: online: MS Teams
Time: pre-scheduled by the Faculty International Admission Office’s staff with the applicant
Duration: 10-20 minutes
Results: the decision is sent out via DreamApply (apply.pte.hu) a few days after the admission interview
Goal: To assess the motivation, spoken scientific English language knowledge, and the background knowledge of the candidate regarding the relevant study field they applied to.
Oral evaluation is based on five factors:
- Professional vocabulary
- Communicative effectiveness (adequate task completion)
- Problem-solving skills related to the specific field the applicant applied to
- Professional knowledge and motivation
Please note that for Computer Science BSc, you must also take a written, pre-admission Mathematics test online. It includes simple and multiple choice questions in high school-level Mathematics. The duration of the exam is 45 minutes.
International Studies Center
Place: online: Zoom, WeChat etc.
Time: pre-scheduled by ISC’s staff with the applicant
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Results: the Letter of Assessment and the Conditional Acceptance letters are sent out via DreamApply (apply.pte.hu) within a workweek
Goal: To assess the spoken English language knowledge of the candidate by initiating a general conversation directed by the examiner.
Oral evaluation is based on five factors:
- Formal accuracy (morphology, syntax)
- Oral accuracy (pronunciation)
- Vocabulary (range and application)
- Style (pragmatic and sociolinguistic aspects)
- Communicative effectiveness (adequate task completion)
Please note that you will need to complete a written English test before the interview. You will receive the test via email. There is no language minimum level set for being admitted into a preparatory course. However, based on the evaluation of the interview, the Head of the English Programme suggests the best possible course-length according to English level of the candidate.
