MA in Balkan Studies
At the University of Pécs you may acquire practical and professional knowledge, as well as its theoretical foundations which enable you to find employment in the public and private sector, standing your ground, thanks to useful attainments regarding the Balkan region. Familiarity with Balkan languages is also part of the training and special attention is paid to the fact that you can continue your studies in this field through a doctorate course.

The training in the Balkan Studies Master's degree program focuses on the current problems and conditions of the region, above all from Hungarian and Central European point of view, with a multi- and interdisciplinary, as well as a critical approach. It is recommended primarily to those who want to specialize their existing qualifications, received in social sciences or humanities, with general and practical knowledge of the region, as well as with language skills. The preparedness of the teaching staff is a guarantee that our graduates can start from a strong position to find jobs in the fields of diplomacy, national security, national defense, Southeast European economy, and international NGO organizations.

MS Teams interview for applicants:
The interview will take approximately 10-20 minutes. The main purpose of the interview is to evaluate applicants' English language proficiency, communication skills, and ability to express their academic background knowledge, interests, and motivations. It also offers applicants an opportunity to discuss their academic and professional goals with the admission committee.

- Certified and translated (if originals are not in English) copy of undergraduate program transcripts showing satisfactory completion of BA (undergraduate) program
- BA diploma certificate (180 credits)
- CV in English
- Motivation letter (introduction plus field of interest, etc.) in 3000 to 3500 characters.
- Copy of valid passport or national ID
- Medical certificate, (please fill the document and attach the serologic test results)
- vaccination card (showing that you are immunized against HEP B)
- HEP A/B/C test*
- HIV test*
- Chest X-ray: Please attach the chest’s X-ray result (not the film!) in English/Hungarian! (not older than 3 months)
- Transfer receipt of the EUR 140 application fee
- Acceptable online language exams:
- Admission interview (via MS Teams)
*Please note: tests have to be taken within a year!
Applicants who are still conducting their studies at the time of application must submit an official letter from their institution indicating the date of graduation. Students cannot enroll at the Program until they have successfully completed their studies at the Bachelors's level.
