Rector's Oath of Office

As the closing event of the ceremony—continuing a long-standing tradition—Dr. Adrián Fábián, who will hold the institution's top leadership position from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2030, took his rector's oath in the presence of former rectors of the University of Pécs. Following the oath, the outgoing rector, Dr. Attila Miseta, handed over the rector's gown, and Rector Emeritus Károly Barakonyi handed over the rector's chain to the new rector.

Following the swearing-in, the newly inaugurated rector introduced the incoming members of the university leadership by name:

  • Dr. Tamás Fedeles, Vice-Rector for General Affairs and Education
  • Dr. Zsuzsanna Helyes, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation
  • Dr. Attila Horváth, Professor, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Economic Affairs
  • Dr. Alexandra Zámbó, Head of Rector's Cabinet

In his speech, the incoming Rector Adrián Fábián outlined a vision of a unified, innovative, and transparently operating university, emphasising that in the future, institutional interests must always take precedence over organisational and private interests. Furthermore, he firmly pointed out that the structural model change of the recent period could not bring the expected breakthrough success at the university level because the rapid model change was not followed by the shift in mindset that is essential for its operation.
