Call for Applications – Pannónia Programme Excellence Student Study Mobility

The University of Pécs announces a call for applications for participation in the Pannónia Programme Excellence Student Study Mobility Programme for the spring semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.

Purpose of the Call

Long-term student study mobility refers to mobility periods based on an inter-institutional agreement, undertaken for the purpose of earning academic credits and directed to designated destination countries. The duration of the mobility period is a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 5 months.

Within the framework of the Pannónia Programme, successful applicants will have the opportunity to participate in a study programme at one of our partner universities in one of the three designated country groups.

Study mobility opportunities are available to students enrolled in Master’s, integrated/undivided, and doctoral programmes. The period of study abroad must form an integral part of the student’s degree programme leading to the award of a diploma/degree. The sending institution must recognise the studies completed abroad and fully integrate them into the student’s curriculum in proportion to the duration of the mobility period. The process of earning and recognising credits must be specified in the Learning Agreement of the student participating in the mobility programme.

Students participating in the Pannónia Programme remain enrolled at their home institution in Hungary and maintain active student status. They are required to pay any applicable tuition fees at their home institution and continue to receive their regular scholarships during their period abroad.

Duration of study mobility abroad: minimum 1 month – maximum 5 months

Period during which the study mobility may take place:15 January 2027 – 15 September 2027

Scholarship currency: HUF (Hungarian Forint)

Scholarship payment: 90% advance payment – 10% post-financing

Students participating in the Pannónia Programme:

• spend 1–5 months abroad;
• do not pay tuition fees at the host institution, provided that a valid tuition fee waiver agreement is in place with the partner institution;
• remain enrolled at their home institution in Hungary, maintain active student status, pay any applicable tuition fees at their home institution, and continue to receive their regular scholarship during their period abroad;
• do not obtain an absolutorium (pre-degree certificate) during the mobility period and maintain an active student status until the completion of their mobility;
• are entitled to 100% credit recognition – credits earned abroad are fully recognised by the University of Pécs;
• are guaranteed by the Pannónia Programme, the University of Pécs, and the sending Faculty that credits earned abroad will be recognised. Activities completed by the student during the study mobility must be accepted by the sending institution and fully integrated into the student’s curriculum in proportion to the mobility period. This helps prevent any potential delay in the student’s studies, which is one of the major concerns discouraging students from participating in mobility programmes;
• may conclude the Grant Agreement only if a Learning Agreement, signed by all three parties, is in place. The completion and recognition of the courses agreed upon in the Learning Agreement are binding for both the student and the participating institutions.

Activities Eligible for Support under the Excellence Scholarship Programme

• Basic financial support for study mobility

Excellence Scholarships may be awarded to students whose mobility is directed to a foreign higher education institution ranked among the top 250 institutions in the international higher education rankings published by Times Higher Education (THE) or Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), provided that they also meet the following requirements:

• Tuition fee support
• Travel support
• Accommodation support

Who Can Apply?

General Eligibility Requirements:

• The student is enrolled in a degree programme leading to a Master’s degree, integrated/undivided degree, or PhD at the University;
• At the time of application, the student has completed at least 1 semester in a Master’s programme, 7 semesters in an integrated/undivided programme, or 2 semesters in a doctoral programme;
• During the semester in which the mobility takes place, the student maintains active student status at the University of Pécs and does not obtain their degree before the end of the mobility period;
• The student meets the application requirements specified by the relevant Faculty.

Excellence Eligibility Requirements:

• The student has a minimum Credit Index (KKI) of 4.3;
• The student has high-level English language communication skills and/or language proficiency corresponding to the native language of the destination country, at a minimum C1 level.

The following may be considered advantageous during the selection process:

• Placements or awards achieved in national academic and/or sports competitions;
• Verified participation in Scientific Students’ Associations (TDK) and/or College for Advanced Studies (szakkollégium) activities;
• Verified involvement in student organisations.

Thanks to the wide range of mobility opportunities offered by the Pannónia Scholarship Programme, every student can find an opportunity that best fits their individual academic and professional career path.

Destination Countries and Country Groups

The amount of financial support available may, in several cases, depend on the destination country of the mobility. The destination countries have been classified into the following country groups:

Mobility scholarships:

The final scholarship amounts will be calculated on a day-by-day basis based on the submitted Learning Agreements.

The scholarship amount may not necessarily cover all expenses incurred during the student’s stay abroad; any additional costs must be covered from other sources.

Additional Financial Support Available under the Excellence Scholarship

Under the Excellence Scholarship Programme, tuition fee, accommodation, and travel support are reimbursed based on the actual costs incurred, as the purpose of these forms of support is to cover the expenses incurred by the scholarship recipient. Accordingly, scholarship recipients are required to provide an itemised account of the expenditure covered by the support received.

The following supporting documents must be retained in connection with the use of the financial support:

In the case of travel support:

• original invoices, receipts, and other documents certifying the actual travel expenses incurred;
• travel documents (ticket, boarding pass, etc.) that allow the date(s) of travel to be verified;
• the agreement concluded with the student serving as the basis for the payment of the support;
• supporting documents related to the payment of the support.

In the case of accommodation support:

• a copy of the agreement concluded with the accommodation provider, specifying the cost of accommodation and the period during which the service was used;
• documents certifying payments related to accommodation;
• the agreement concluded with the student serving as the basis for the payment of the support;
• supporting documents related to the payment of the support.

In the case of tuition fee support:

• the agreement concluded with the host institution specifying the amount of the tuition fee;
• documents certifying the payment of the tuition fee;
• the agreement concluded with the student serving as the basis for the payment of the support;
• supporting documents related to the payment of the support.

• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Motivation Letter
• Certificate of credits earned during the previous two completed semesters
• Copy/copies of language examination certificate(s)
• Certificates or other documents confirming additional academic, sports, and/or community activities (optional)
• Letter of recommendation from the academic supervisor

Please also check the language of instruction and the level of study at which courses are offered (Bachelor’s or Master’s level).

For a few partner universities outside the European Union — Sungkyunkwan University, Keio University, Curtin University, and National Tsing Hua University — applicants must complete an additional application procedure directly with the selected partner university listed above.

Evaluation of Submitted Applications

Submitted applications will be evaluated by the Faculty Foreign Affairs Committee, the professional committee established by the Faculty for this purpose.

Incomplete applications, applications that do not meet the eligibility requirements, or applications submitted after the deadline cannot be accepted.
