Prestigious Acknowledgement for the University of Pécs

This year, the Superbrands Hungary Expert Committee of independent experts met for the seventeenth time and found the University of Pécs (UP) worthy of the Superbrands 2021 award. The certificate was recently presented to UP management.

Superbrands is a prestigious award recognised by the general public; the international programme rewards the most outstanding consumer and business brands. Each year, a 41-member independent panel of marketing and management experts select the highest quality brands following a multi-stage preliminary process. The award sets a benchmark for market players seeking to develop and promote the national brands as a model for successful brand building.

József Betlehem, Vice Rector for General Affairs, Connections and Strategic Affairs at the University of Pécs, said, "The award is clearly a positive feedback about our university, as it is decided on a professional basis. Renowned experts receive invitation to the committee, whose decision attests to the success, credibility and visibility of the University of Pécs. I think that such feedback is important, but for us it is equally important to increase and strengthen the popularity of our institution among young people. The most objective indicator of this is the number of applications, and the number of applicants to PTE has increased by 18% compared to last year, which is even higher than the national average, indicating that

the confidence in Hungary's first university has been further strengthened".

This year marks the twenty-sixth anniversary of the launch of the programme by marketing and communications experts in the UK. The aim was twofold: to spotlight outstanding brands and to provide examples to follow. Since its inception, the programme has become recognised around the world, with the Superbrands title now a special designation in nearly 90 countries. In each country, the jury has a special role and responsibility, and only recognised experts are selected to sit on the panel. The members of the independent jury perform this task on a voluntary basis without remuneration.
