The agreement establishes a strategic collaboration aimed at reinforcing the region’s innovation ecosystem and accelerating healthcare digitalisation.
According to PTE’s Rector, the partnership is especially important for an institution that — as one of Hungary’s largest providers of medical care — manages extensive and sensitive health data. The collaboration will ensure that the university not only improves its data handling capacities, but also makes the insights and experience generated by the cooperation available to students.
InterSystems brings decades of global experience in high-performance data platforms, interoperability, and AI-ready data management solutions. Their technologies could support secure, large-scale data processing for medical, laboratory, genetic and equipment information.

Under the agreement, PTE and InterSystems will work together across several areas:
organising and implementing innovation programmes and events, from student and researcher idea-development (e.g. hackathons) to potential spin-off or start-up creation;
developing healthcare informatics education, with guest lectures, training courses and curriculum development;
supporting research & development and innovation projects; and
contributing to the development of a regional health data network for Southern Transdanubia, building on InterSystems’ technology to create a regional platform for sharing and analysing healthcare data.

InterSystems’ CEO emphasised the forward-looking nature of PTE’s decision to establish a dedicated unit for managing data assets. He expressed hope that together they could build an innovation ecosystem — not only benefiting the university and its students, but transforming PTE into a driving force for healthcare innovation in Hungary and the wider region.
The agreement underscores PTE’s commitment to combining research, education and industry cooperation in pursuit of data-driven, modern, efficient and innovative healthcare solutions.
