Besides being the oldest university in the country, the University of Pécs has earned a prominent position in terms of international excellence as well. The entire institution, as well as many of our faculties and study programmes took leading positions in highly recognized international rankings.

The list includes more than 2,200 ranked institutions, the PTE ranked in the 1001-1200 category. The criteria taken into account are: quality of teaching and research, academic citations, international and industrial relations.

The latest Times Higher Education rankings were also published recently. According to the subject-specific rankings, the University of Pécs appeared in eight of the eleven scientific fields assessed. In the Medical and Health Sciences category, the university achieved notable progress, ranking in the 401–500 range and becoming the best regional university in this field.

QS World University Rankings
The University of Pécs has earned a place on the list comparing the world’s top higher education institutions. Following its position in the 801–850 range two years ago and 771–780 last year, Hungary’s first university has now achieved an even more prestigious spot, ranking between 741 and 750 this year. Moreover, Pécs's university ranked highest among Hungarian universities in two key categories: learning experience and international students.

PTE Tops Several Categories Among Hungarian Universities
The London-based Quacquarelli Symonds organisation released its latest European regional university ranking. In the list comparing the best higher education institutions on the continent, the University of Pécs was ranked 292nd, improving from 325th two years ago and 314th last year.
In addition, in the categories of learning experience and international student diversity, the University of Pécs once again ranked as the best Hungarian university. All indicators showed improvement, with particularly significant progress in sustainability and in the proportion of students participating in international exchange programs.

GRAS ranks universities in 54 subject lists based on scientific publications and citations. PTE is ranked 401-500 in Human Biological Sciences.

The University of Pécs has once again achieved an outstanding position in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, securing the 25th spot among 1,477 universities from 95 countries. This marks the fifth time PTE has been recognized as Hungary's greenest university, reinforcing its role as a global leader in sustainability.
