Changes to student travel discounts

As of 1 March, Government Decree 38/2024 (29.II.29.) on travel discounts for public passenger transport has changed, and with it the travel discount for students.

Travel benefits for full-time and evening students:

• 90% discount on the purchase of a pass for intercity transport.

• The discount on intercity transport tickets has been cancelled.

The discount on local transport (within the city) is available from the local public transport company.

Travel benefits for part-time students:
The previous travel discount available based on student status has been discontinued. This is currently the case nationally according to the statistics of the Education Office 42,695 part-time students, including 1,030 international students.

If the student has not yet reached the age of 25, they can travel with a 50% discount on intercity transport based on age.

In the case of correspondence students, the University of Pécs Directorate for Academic Affairs recommends applying for a student card only if the purpose of using the card is not only to receive a travel discount.
